Thinkware has a really powerful Cloud service that comes FREE when you buy the camera. This is all managed by the Thinkware Cloud application, which also enables firmware and safety camera database updates, the latter being available once a month and included for the life of the product.

Connection to the internet is through a Wi-Fi hotspot, that can be by tethering to your smartphone, connecting via a vehicle’s own hotspot, connecting via a MiFi or even connecting to your home or office Wi-Fi when parked. Some garages even have their own Wi-Fi hotspots. The cameras are continually searching for a hotspot when not connected, so when you arrive home and leave the vehicle, the camera will reconnect to the home hotspot even when it is in parking mode.

Notifications are uploaded to the Cloud triggered by impacts and crossing geofences set up by the user. You can have several smartphones logged into an account, so family members can also get the notifications and locate the vehicle at any time, with location updates being sent every 10 seconds. If there is a big impact in either driving or parking mode, a video clip of the event is uploaded to the Cloud. Moving up the range from the F800Pro, the Q800Pro adds the ability to live stream video in driving mode and the U1000 can also stream live video in parking mode too.

The initial setup is somewhat complicated however there are many videos and presentations to help with the setup that are available on our website. Once the setup is complete, everything is automatic. For surveillance in parking mode, if there aren’t any external hotspots available, a MiFi device can be used, with energy saving switched off so that it doesn’t go to sleep. Typical durations are around 8 hours, and this can be augmented by connecting a power bank, switched to deliver current before you leave the vehicle.

If all this is a little daunting for you we’re always here to help.
