However, should people be concerned about this, or the terms of a vehicle lease, then there are various options. The simple one is to power the dash cam via the cigar lighter socket, to avoid an invasive installation, however there won’t be any parking mode. The second is by employing the cigar lighter version of the iVolt backup battery, that detects when the ignition has been switched off and triggers parking mode. The third, which is hot off the press, is an OBD II adaptor, which provides power via the OBD II port under the dashboard and switches the camera into parking mode when the ignition is switched off.
